Stephen Crane's love of literature led him to obtain Bachelor of Arts Degrees in English and Comparative Literature from the University of California, Santa Barbara. In addition to being a dedicated student, he was also a varsity collegiate rower.
After graduation, Stephen became Publicity Assistant of Anita Halton Associates in Laguna Beach, California. During his six years with AHA, he rapidly rose through the ranks to become Publicity Manager and honed his publicity and media relations skills on diverse clientele and earned a Master's Degree in Mass Communications from California State University, Fullerton.
In 1997, Stephen's experience and education led him to create CraneCreek Communications, a full service public relations and marketing consultancy specializing in publishing, media, entertainment and business. Now, he works behind the scenes with leading voices in business, entertainment, lifestyle and politics to elevate their strategic position in the marketplace.
Stephen has grown CraneCreek into one of the top public relations firms specializing in literary publicity for authors and publishers. He has a proven track record of securing national attention for his clients on network and cable television programs; in leading business, consumer and trade publications like The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, USA Today, Time and BusinessWeek; and on the radio and Internet. Beyond his pitching skills, Stephen is a skilled public relations counselor who delivers strategic insight and in-depth knowledge of the media and the industries he serves.
Stephen is a self-made renaissance man who balances intellect, knowledge, culture, and elbow grease to live life to its fullest. Born in Texas and a child of rural New Jersey, Chicago, Seattle and the beaches and desert of California, Stephen has covered many miles. When Stephen is not busy building CraneCreek and attending to its clients, he enjoys mountain biking, skiing, remodeling homes and cooking.
